Dear friends,
Today, Nov. 17, is the day of my book’s release and I want to alert you to a glitch with Amazon that I’ve just found out about.
This morning I’ve received emails from several of you who tell me they’ve received a message saying they need approval from you before they’ll send out your copy. The example below is from a friend and I’ve deleted her order number, so please don’t respond here. I just want you to know that if you get a message like this, please approve your order as soon as possible so they don’t cancel it. Another friend who’s already approved her order said she was told to follow the email to an approval page prior to Dec 17, or her order might be canceled, so I urge you to respond today.
I don’t know what’s happening, but it could be that Amazon has trouble with authors who order several books in other people’s names to make Amazon think their books are selling like wildfire. If that’s the case, that’s good news for me because it means a whole lot of you have already preordered, but the bad news is that now everybody’s going to have to approve their pre-ordered purchase!
That’s so annoying. And I’m so sorry. I’ve notified my marketing contact at Red Feather Mind Body Spirit in case the problem is at their end, and if it is, she’ll take care of it. But I’m pretty sure it’s not my publisher. I received my books over a week ago from them, so this is definitely about Amazon.
If you have told me you will write a review, I suggest you approve your order immediately so they’ll ship the book to you right away. Then publish your review after you’ve read it so they’ll know there hasn’t been any foul play. If you are someone who read an advance galley proof copy, I suggest you wait a few days before you submit your review so they won’t think there’s been any foul play. It’s shocking how many new problems have cropped up for authors in this internet era.
Thank you so very much for your support for The Soul’s Twins.
Love,
Jeanie

Jeanie, I received no such message. I went to Amazon to check. It shows I ordered the book Oct 21 and states they don’t have a delivery date yet, but no requirement to update my order.
Excellent. My publisher says Amazon has apparently run out of the first order of books and has already put in a second order with them. She said that was an automated notice that should have been canceled, but hasn’t been yet. But if anyone gets it, they should approve it just to be sure Amazon knows. Ira Israel, a psychotherapist who read an early review copy just wrote me to say he entered a review on Amazon today and they’ve already accepted it! So good news all around!
Thanks for letting me know.
Hi Jeanie, here in the UK Amazon say that your book is temporarily no longer available? Hopefully this is just a glitch.
I’ve triple checked this and there’s no link to approve the order either. Fingers crossed Amazon will sort this out pronto!
Thank you Deborah, apparently it has been. I have no idea why some people are getting this order and some are not, but either way, my publisher says everyone should get their orders soon.
Good, because Mother Christmas was getting a little worried there! x
Hahahahaha. Aww, she should know Santa never disappoints!
