A Special Last-Minute Notice

BLOG

The myth is the public dream and the dream is the private myth. If your private myth, your dream, happens to coincide with that of the society, you are in good accord with your group. If it isn’t, you’ve got an adventure in the dark forest ahead of you.”  ~Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth with Bill Moyers

I’ve had this adventure and it was life-transforming.  If you’re interested in hearing more about it, I’ll be making a live Zoom presentation this evening, Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7-9 PM Eastern time for the Community for Integrative Learning.

This is an innovative organization from  Wilmington, Delaware that promotes thought-provoking programs and activities for individuals interested in greater harmony, expanded creativity, enriched purpose, and increased connectedness and well being.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”  ~ Margaret Mead

Following is the description of tonight’s program. It’s one of the things I’ve been working on for quite a while that has taken my time away from writing more posts.  I’m sorry for the late notice but it only occurred to me a few minutes ago that some of you might enjoy seeing it.

Author Dr. Jean Benedict Raffa explores the interface between psychology, spirituality, and your life’s myth in her newest Nautilus Award-winning book, The Soul’s Twins: Emancipate Your Feminine and Masculine Archetypes. Our families and social groups condition us from childhood to have certain beliefs and attitudes about religion, gender differences, job preferences, and what makes a good life. Living our lives according to the collective dreams of society while ignoring the dreams of our souls can have lifelong negative psychological and spiritual consequences.

This presentation includes two big dreams from Dr. Raffa’s childhood that shaped her life’s myth, and describes the basic feminine and masculine archetypes that influence all of us.  Emancipating these archetypes from gender stereotypes enables us to change our personal myth and frees us to develop loving relationships with ourselves and others.

I’d love to see you there.  Registration and more info here:https://www.cil-de.org

    1. No problem, Aladin. The different time zones can make it very difficult to attend some live Zoom sessions! 🙂

Kris Kristofferson: Midlife Mentor

At the age of 35 I had a wonderful family, good health, a comfortable lifestyle, and a master’s degree: everything a woman could want. Right? You’d think so. But I felt painfully unfulfilled. What was wrong with me? Why couldn’t I just be happy? I felt like an ungrateful wretch.

Memories of Childhood Dreams

Mama got a job working nights at the hospital. She slept during the day while Daddy was at work and Jimmy was at school, so I entertained myself. I got so accustomed to being alone that once when a little girl asked me to come out and play, I wouldn’t go. She bit my hand and ran away! I couldn’t imagine what her problem was.
